Small World Photomicrography

Nikon’s Small World Photomicrography Competition focuses on subjects that are too small to view with the naked eye. Scientists and photographers turned their attention on a wide range of living and man-made subjects, from lacewing larva to charged couple devices, sometimes magnifying them over 2000x their original size.

Images two through twenty-one showcase the contest’s winners in order, and are followed by a selection of other amazing examples of photomicrography.
